I just finished Daredevil season 2 in under a 72 hour span like a dope fiend!
(Shout out to Netflix. Free month. No charge yo!)
Let’s get the important question out of the way. Was season 2 better than season 1? Simple answer, HELL YEAH! The truth is that this season delivered on every note, pace, tone, action and spin off setup while the first season suffered to a degree because they were just building the story architecture for further character development and plot advancement. The second most important question, how was Jon Bernthal as the Punisher? And to put it simply, Bernthal’s version of the Punisher is the best portrayal to be put on screen, and this is coming from someone who liked Ray Stevenson’s version but disliked Thomas Jane’s.
After finishing the season here are my thoughts:
I’m patiently waiting for Netflix to announce the Punisher spin off series. Punisher’s story line with the Blacksmith was not resolved. Secondly, because Jon Bernthal is a star. He is ready to carry a series on his own (although it’s debatable The Walking Dead should be changed to “Shane was fucking right all along” but that’s a rant for another day).
Back to what I was saying..
On second thought the character bounces better off others with high moral centers, Daredevil, Spiderman and Luke Cage. The Punisher would be of better use if he bounced between the Netflix Marvel Universe.
While I really like the show, Daredevil, along with the actor’s portrayal of him, but next season they are going to have to flesh his character out more. I feel as though all of the other characters developed except Matt Murdock. I understand Matt wanting to withdraw himself from society, but that will make him a very boring character if writers decide to go that route. By the end of the season, I was more interested in the Punisher than Daredevil.
Foggy really grew into his own this season, still was a whiney “you don’t tell me anything even though I know you’re the Daredevil” annoying little bitch, that I wanted to catch a stray bullet, oh wait he did ‘yes! But, Foggy showed progression from being just a stereotypical sidekick .I like that Matt and Foggy broke up for a little while.
Elektra, portrayed by Elodie Yung, pulled off that crazed blood lust filled assassin look flawlessly .I look forward to seeing her more next season (not confirmed) with her cult army.
Last, but not least, Kingpin. Kingpin is the motherfucking man, Period. Best villain Marvel has brought to the table when it pertains to film and TV.
I recommend any one who loves comics to watch if you haven’t already, or if u just like seeing action and violence on screen.
But hey, I’m just a guy who just stole a few minutes of your life you’ll never get back, so do what you like.
